Reflecting Style: A Guide to Perfect Mirror Placement in Your Home

Updated: Aug 3

The number one key to keep in mind when placing Eglomise or Antique Mirrors in your home or business is that they will double the energy of whatever they reflect, both positive and negative. Try to place opposite a favourite piece of art or a beautifully finished interior as it will invite those energies through-out your home or business.

Reflect Good Things, place mirrors opposite beautiful views to bring in the natural elements and energy but be mindful of what your mirror reflects both inside and outside the home. They're a quick adjustment when you want to expand a space and bring in light. Just make sure they're reflecting a beautiful view and not a cluttered space.

Fabulously large mirrors visually expand small areas such as hallways and corridors. Place a mirror in your main entry to brighten the space. It also allows you to check your appearance before leaving the house.

Plus, mirrors give visitors a sense of your tastes right away.

There are different types of mirrors and with so many available in the marketplace it is tricky to find the one that suits your style or space, if this is the case then why not commission a bespoke mirror, these can be made to your size and with a choice of finishes can be matched to any interior, making it a very special and luxurious piece.

Perfect on landings of small staircases to help widen the space but it isn’t recommended to place a mirror directly across from the front door, but rather on a wall perpendicular to it this will attract positive energy and prevent it from escaping. Therefore, hang a mirror almost anywhere in the hallway to activate the stagnant energy and create movement.

Hang a mirror near your desk to enhance your creativity and productivity. Because mirrors are reflective, they can be strategically placed to invite energy into a space. For example, in Feng Shui if you place a mirror in your office in such a way that it reflects trees outside, you are inviting wood energy into your work, representing growth and expansion in your career.

Get creative with a mirror, whilst primarily mirrors have always been used in bathrooms and bedrooms to check appearances, they can also be used in plenty of other rooms and locations. For example, use behind glasses, bottles, or use on the front of cabinets in a kitchen to create textures with interesting reflections.

Antique Mirror Behind Glass

Making the mirror floor to ceiling creates a stunning wall feature, and when used as the vintage aged glass or reeded glass panels in a bathroom, your reflection isn’t too visible.

Large antique mirror walls create a gorgeous decadence to a space with very little work to install them, they are also easy to maintain. If you want to create a bright airy space, then using mirrors to achieve this is an ideal way of reflecting light and creating a wall texture. If done correctly, they give an illusion of having extra space as well as being a practical room piece.

Whether you have chosen a large or medium sized mirror, placement is key, make sure it is optimised as much as possible to achieve the effect required. For instance, place opposite a window to reflect the light or side on to a piece of art to reflect the colour back into the room.

Experiment with the location before it is fixed in position. If placed correctly, mirrors can brighten any room and can invite positive energies in a room.
